Refers to the style of painting and graphic design of a small group of German artists, primarily Sigmar Polke, Gerhard (Gerd) Richter, and Konrad Lueg (Fischer), dating from the early 1960s. Sharing some affinities with Pop Art, the style is characterized by a critical observance of contemporary events and personalities.
